While the physical body is of course central to yoga, our primary intention is not to become leaner, more toned or more muscular. Rather, yoga is about developing a healthier relationship with our physical bodies and simultaneously with our minds and our emotions - in other words with ourselves!  Put simply, our intention is to bring these different aspects of ourselves into harmony and allow them to act in concert. When we gently yoke together the body, mind and energies - and then channel them in the sincere and focused pursuit of our own well-being and equanimity, a deep sense of peace, unity and inner harmony begins to dawn. As we experience harmony within ourselves, we begin to feel more in tune with, and connected to, others and the world around us.

How Yoga Works

How yoga achieves this cannot fully be captured in words, but in essence we consciously enlist the body and the breath to calm and still the mind, we withdraw our attention from the stimuli of the outside world, turn our attention inward and, thanks to the inner stillness, spaciousness and silence that we discover, are able to connect with a subtle dimension deep within ourselves - a wellspring of positive, healing, nourishing energy that gradually infuses every aspect of our being.

By using the breath to remain present and aware during practice, we gradually learn how to connect consciously with that energy, illuminating and transforming our experience from moment to moment. In this way, our yoga mat becomes a wonderful training ground for life as we cherish this new-found state of higher consciousness and gradually bring it into daily lives.

What We Offer

For the timeless teachings of yoga to resonate with the student they must first have truly resonated with the teacher. My guiding principle is therefore to offer to others the postures, moving sequences, breathing exercises, therapeutic practices, guided meditations and deep relaxation techniques that I myself have found to be beneficial. This personal distillation of the teachings I have received ensures, in turn, the authenticity and integrity of my own teaching.
